Open-air museums are an important part of the cultural heritage

Maja Todorović, ethnologist and anthropologist, researcher at theInstitute for cultural development research, participated in the online conference “Open-Air Museums – Experiences from Serbia and the World” organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information in partnership with “Color Media Communications”.

The conference was dedicated to the importance of open-air museums that show the former architecture, history, tradition and culture of our ancestors, focused on the life and work of ordinary people – peasants, craftsmen, as well as the way of life but also the interior design and habits. people.

In the first panel on the importance of museums and museum materials in the process of learning about the history and traditions of a nation, the researcher of the Institute Maja Todorović pointed out examples of good practices in Serbia: “Serbia and the Uzice region, it is important to mention the Sharganska osmica, which inherits a significant part of the industrial heritage, but in Serbia there are many private ethno environments, some of which function like private museums.”
