The Online Presentation of the Monograph “The Musical Heritage of Vranje”

The online presentation of the monograph “The Musical Heritage of Vranje” will be streamed on the Facebook page of the Center for Study in Cultural Development (the live stream link: https://www.facebook.com/zaprokul) on Thursday, December 24, 2020, at 7 pm. The book was prepared and published by the City of Vranje and the Center for Study in Cultural Development, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia.

The rich dual-language monograph “The Musical Heritage of Vranje” by Marija Vitas was written following Vranje’s membership in the Creative Cities Network. Vranje is the first Serbian city to become a member of this vital network in the field of music. The monograph provides an all-encompassing overview of Vranje’s rich musical tradition with an emphasis on urban songs. Besides history, the monograph addressed the contributions of the most important figures of the Vranje music scene, its reception and significance in Serbian culture, as well as the contemporary music scene in Vranje. This richly illustrated monograph contains texts in the Serbian and English, an introduction by the mayor of Vranje Slobodan Milenković, and reviews by Dimitrije Golemović and Dragana Marinković.

Among the speakers will be Slobodan Milenković, the mayor of Vranje; Zorica Jović, the deputy mayor of Vranje; Branimir Stošić Kace, artist; Ivana Tasić, artist; Vladimir Kolarić, editor of the monograph; and Marija Vitas, author. The event will be moderated by Vuk Vukićević, the director of the Center for Study in Cultural Development.

In addition to the printed edition, we prepared a digital edition in EPUB form adjusted for reading on screens.
