Updating the database on amateurism in the field of folk dance

As part of its regular activities, the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Institute for cultural development research, as a national cultural institution conducts research under the working title “Folklore Cultural and Artistic Societies” as a continuation of the Ministry’s project “Database of Cultural and Artistic Societies”. folk games “.

Cultural and artistic societies in the field of folk dance are of special interest for the development of a dynamic cultural sector and for improving the mechanisms of cultural policy, as the most numerous factors / subjects in culture that unite two segments of culture: protection of intangible cultural heritage and contemporary art.

The aim of this research is to, considering the current state in which cultural and artistic societies work, challenges and perspectives, enable strategic planning to encourage amateurism in Serbia. The result of the joint activities will be a study available to decision makers when creating action plans to improve the position of amateurism in Serbia.

The realization of this project will define the starting points for proposing and later implementing future measures and activities of one of the segments of cultural policy which primarily refers to the field of artistic dance in a broader sense, ie folk dance and its creation, production and interpretation.

On that occasion, on November 22, 2021, in the premises of the Institute, a working meeting was held in which participated: Đurđijana Jovanović, independent advisor at the Ministry of Culture and Information with associates, Zdravko Ranisavljević, ethnomusicologist-ethnochoreologist, teacher of Ethnochoreology ( Faculty of Music in Belgrade) and President of the Center for Research and Preservation of Traditional Games of Serbia (CIOTIS) and Smiljana Stokić, member of the presidency of UBUS (Representative Association in Culture) and member The Sector Council for Arts and Humanities of NOKS, and in front of the Institute were attended by Dr. Slobodan Mrdja, sociologist, coordinator for cultural development research, Dr. Masha Vukanovic, ethnologist and anthropologist and Mariana Milankov, sociologist.

The starting points for further action were discussed at the meeting, and a plan for future activities was also made.
