SPECIAL SCREENING OF THE FILM ABOUT THE BIRTH OF FEST IN ZAPROKUL
On the occasion of the 50th jubilee FEST, a special screening of the archival film by the cult director Mićo Milošević about the origin of the FEST and a discussion about the film entitled “BIRTH OF THE FEST” was held in the Gallery of the Institute.
Excellent experts in culture and film spoke about the first FEST “Brave New World”, its founding and duration as one of the main cultural events in Belgrade: Radoslav Zelenović, film historian; Aleksandar Mandić, film and TV director and Sasa Radojević, screenwriter, director and film critic.
The screening was officially opened by Marko Krstić, director of the Institute, and Vladimir Tomčić, director of Filmski novosti.
On this occasion, Krstić pointed out: “that it is very important to inherit the tradition of FEST, because this event is a key cultural point of this area. At the time of its creation, FEST had great historical happiness because it was created at an artistically potent time.”
Speaking about the importance of FEST, Mr. Tomčić pointed out that: “Such reminders of the founding and tradition of FEST have their place in culture in order to learn about the energy and will of the people who founded it.” This is a kind of honor to the people who made it and have made it last until today, and in this way their effort is established for eternity. ”
“We were the country behind the Iron Curtain, we were something in between, we were a little east, a little west. It was interesting for foreign distributors, so those years are remembered as the most successful years at the beginning of FESTA “, concluded Zelenović.
Well-known film and TV director Aleksandar Mandić said: “that we were given an exceptional opportunity to be a part of the world, to participate on the screen in the world cultural revolution.” That’s when the world came to Belgrade. ”
Prominent screenwriter Sasa Radojevic pointed out the fact that “FEST from its inception until today, follows the time in which it is held, through it we can reconstruct our cultural history in the best way.”
